Square's keeping Final Fantasy XIV strictly text chat only—Sage Sundi, global online producer, suggested that Skype and Ventrilo are still your best bets.
I guess with EQ2 I have just been blessed, the fact that they specifically are saying it won't be an option (especially on the console/PS3) is interesting. Very against the grain imho.
Kotkau: What's Holding Up Final Fantasy XIV For Xbox 360? Its a downer, but former WoW players won't notice the difference converting to FFXIV since the in game one is remarkably unusable, no idea why its so bad but when we tried it the voice volumes were just all over the place as other people in the guild told me it would be, the quality was lower then Ventrillo too.
EQ2 players they are going to miss it, just this weekend it was super smooth being able to just swap to the group channel and start talking, that's a feature I've not seen in any other game yet. The quality so far has been great too.
A strange decision to me to take this route, FFXIV appears to be shaping up to be a very traditional design MMO.
