Kinda surprised it is Odus for the next expansion, although I do enjoy Odus, and Halas will certainly be neat.

Level cap increased to 90
"Auto-Mentoring" - Mentor to any zone and still earn XP
Achievement System - Assume it is a WOW/360 type system
Not coming out till Feb 2010, not Nov.

Bummed the release is pushed back. I always enjoyed spending some thanksgiving time with the new expansion.

It is a bit of a surprise - Velious was the direction everyone was expecting, but then maybe that's why they chose to head back to Odus.

Still, as my first toon in EQ was an Erudin, and I spent the first months of my MMO life stumbling around the pitch black that was Tox Forest, it will be nice to see it again :)

I am kindv glad it has been pushed back, only because I personally bailed on EQ2 with TSO. Now that I am back it is still fresh - 2010 also gives me more time to become competitive with TSO.

After jumping around many games I feel a real sense of momentum with EQ2 - Nagafen at 80 is very healthy right now.

Now if only they would come up with a way to mentor with PVP! Then all would be well with the world :)

Yeah from my point of view I think they are going to gimp both the new achievement system for pvp (if they have it at all) and I am not sure how they will do mentoring on pvp. Maybe the automentoring is a by product of regular mentoring not working on PvP.

It would make sense then if everyone was automatically reduced down to the zones level, I'd like that feature since it stops the whole returning back to the big bad evil you faced at level 20 and just one shotting him thing, that sort of destroys a lot of the feel of the game for me.

Yet according to this list it appears that you need to go to a home city to setup the automentoring, seems to be a bit confusing, solo mentoring sounds more accurate

Quote:
Auto-mentoring

Hail an NPC in one of the home cities and you will be able to mentor down in 5 level increments (20, 25, 30, 35, etc.) and complete quests, kill named encounters, etc. at the appropriate level. This does not require mentoring another person and will not offer the extra bonuses given to folks who naturally mentor one of their friends.

To prepare for this feature, a list of named mobs on long spawns in existing zones is already being assembled to have their timers tweaked. Also, low level contested zones will instance themselves (Sinking Sands 1, 2, 3, etc.) in case of large populations.

So not sure here how the PVP servers get effected here, seems like they will need to add in some extra check to prevent it being exploited.

One thing though I am really keen to see, they spoke about the new shadow 3.0 models and demo screen shots, if anyone can find and link them I'd appreciate it.

I was a little worried that the level cap was going to rise in November and I still have so much to do in this expansion. February is a much better time I think personally. I'm excited about Halas, one of my favorite start cities in EQ1.

I'm also interested to see what they are doing with mythicals since I finally got my myth on both my level 80s.

Damn, I REALLY wanted Velious. But oh well, what can ya do right?

Looking forward to seeing what they have in store... leveling up a fury and at 64, so hopefully will have another level 80 under the belt soon.

Hope all are well!
