Shame you didn't have a mic sat between you... ;)
Back on topic... I certainly think Kunark was a real shift in "feel" for EQ2; it was a really wierd mix of almost enforced soloing (which didn't bother me, as that fits my playstyle quite well, but I totally see how it bugged others) and very challenging events that seem to demand a higher level of gear to survive than before. That latter point, however, could easily have been said about the original Kunark expansion back in EQ, and that seems to have survived nicely!
TOS is just as confusing, as it's driven it back in the opposite direction. The main thrust of it - the instances - demand a full group, and Kunark-equipped at that. I certainly don't feel I've got much in the way of value out of it yet; maybe that will change if I ever stop messing around and get a toon or two up to max level.
Possibly the biggest problem with it was simply the size of the damn thing. The old world felt empty because everyone was furiously grinding in Kunark, while Kunark itself felt empty because it had huge, somehow fragmented zones. It will be interesting to see how that side of it has changed, now my alt is getting up to the right level to be visiting!
