Tonight is the night I was to restart my EQ2 subscription. I've been on a long break and at the request of a friend I was going to resubscribe.

Since I started my break I've bought a new PC and it has no traces of EQ2. I do have the original disks but I don't want to go through the 8 hours of patching. I also have the KoS disks but one of them won't read.

So, I decided to head out and buy a copy of TSO. Gamestop - no copies. Best Buy - no copies. Walmart - no copies. EPIC FAIL for SoE.

All three places had lots of WoW Lich King or whatever on the shelves.

SOE - you gotta put your product where people shop.

I'm off to play some PS2. Maybe I'll download EQ2 tomorrow. Maybe not. Stupid SoE.

This has always been an issue for them. They know about it certainly, I think the main problem is the stores aren't that interested in carrying it. Although my confusion has always been with the scores of crappy games they do carry, why can't they carry a couple of copies of EQ2?

Its the same sad story in the UK, years ago I could not move for EQ1 sales stands, I do believe though that if they treated the games as 30 day subscription cards though the problem would be solved since old unsold out of date copies of EQ2 would be removed from the shelves when they hit ~£10 or so. At least then EQ2 could
not fail to do better then the B-movie style crud that fills most shelves in the local Game/HMV store, like you I'm puzzled quite why they bother even trying to sell some games :P

Or is this the case already with EQ2 boxes? Right now I just assume each one only offers 30 days play on a new account?

The ONLY place I have seen EQ2 on the shelves is at my local Fry's an even then 2/3rd of the box are pre-TSO boxes.
