So, my ranger on Nagafen is a dime-a-dozen, not very sought after. I thought I would try a toon with more utility - coercer - but don't want a long grind to 80.

Well it just so happens my 7 y/o son has been begging me to play EQ2. So I plan to drop my toon somewhere like splitpaw each night I log off and allow my son to play to his hearts content. In fact i have four kids (started early and never quit!) and plan to allow them all to play this one toon whenever they want when I am not playing. I have given the basic tutorial of how to play to all of them haha - my own powerleveling service! With the expansion all alts get +10% xp bonus for each lvl 80 toon on same account - nice! This in addition to a significant speed boost to the 20-70 level grind.

So I created my Arsai coercer tonight - Theorec. I wanted Theoric meaning skilled in theory - it was taken arrgh - so Theorec it is. I plan on using Dark Elf illusion as my look however, wanted the Arsai attributes of safefall, glide, and runspeed. I immediately moved my toon to Gorowyn as I have never leveled there. I will use this thread to chronicle my progress.

Here I am in front of the starting village in Timorous Deep.

So I had a change of plans, one night wasted. Once I hit level ten I hit up broker for the dark elf bone collection. Lets just say the illusion is not what I was after. I even changed my arasai's appearance with the barber but my illusion was stuck on UGLY.

Check it out - so I am sticking with the actual dark elf race. I will miss that incombat perma speed and also the incombat 36s 50% speed buff to go along with glide and safe fall. Really, the fairy's have killer combo of racial traits - oh well.

Hmmm have your kids do your grinding... You get out of the dirty work, They have fun in the process. I like your thinking. You could have them harvest and craft too.

Do you think a one year old could get started on this? She is almost 2 :) Maybe I can start her on harvesting till she gets used to the controls.

UPDATE - This has been great fun I must say. Started Sat. morning and As of Sunday night my 7 y/o son with help from my 13 y/o daughter had almost entirely on their own got my toon to level 20. Great combo - my son just kills, my daughter does questing - she can play almost as well as me already.

They have had loads of fun and this is like a fun group project or something which has been cool. My son is hilarious - he could care less we have some Legendary Staff of the Overpowering Prophet with uber stats. Why have a stick when he just bought that awesome lvl 1 sword from the merchant? I mean, its a stick right? hehe. Playing with him reminds me of how my mindset used to be playing games. When a treasure chest drops - you can't imagine how awesome that is to my son - he got treasure man! And man is he disappointed when it is for another class because if not he is wearing it- who cares if its an upgrade, its freakin treasure! Oh btw, all those "powers" I have he got for us. Especially that invisibility power, I mean he did that and in his mind we would not have - of course it comes with level 15, but he thinks he earned it somehow special :)

We did not get to do much Mon. night but we got out of Timorous Deep and tonight I hope to finish betrayal - Toon is now lvl 23. Timorous Deep is great fun, as all of RoK gear itemization is great - I have heard that SOE has reworked all the old world gear to come in line with RoK - is this correct?

BTW, my wife is giving aggro with the whole situation. As if I was not bad enough I have created two more MMO addicts? Especially my son, he cannot play when getting home from school until he throws 10 buckets of baseballs into our target and shoots basketball for 15min - oh its great :)

Updated photo from timorous Deep.

My daughter's play has completely faded unfortunately - she uses sorry excuses like homework and such. My son however is completely hooked - I heard him say last night - "you don't wanna be my friend now punk? Thats ok cuz now you gonna die!" - referring to his pet after the charm had broken :P - my wife thinks this is really great for him (don't miss the mountain of sarcasm here :P)

Now my experiment has gone full fledge near cheating :). My good friend, character name Argoth, hears about it and we together work it out for my son to play with me and help us both.
Now, when I am able, my son and I play together, he plays Argoth - lvl 49 paladin - who mentors my coercer :). Argoth gets a little xp, great AA - and the xp for the coercer gets a good boost :). Additionally, when only one of us is able to play, Argoth becomes our personal mentor bot - we just place him on autofollow and my coercer puts a hate transfer on him. What is great is that even without fighting argoth absorbs about 4 hits due to the hate transfer. We still share the quests with Argoth but don't try and dual box him.

Anyway, Theorec is now lvl 36. I must say, I have always been a quest line grinder but the xp for mobs of equal level is so much greater than for say green that I have been forced to move on much sooner than I like. To make things quick after TD I went to BBM. At about 30 I split time between Zek and EL basically completing all the quests near each zones dock - 5 levels is extremely quick this way. I have avoided all harvesting/gathering quests and focuses on combat quests unless they were readily available and quick. At lvl 35 Steamfont becomes a no-brainer. The zone is not very populated - Zek/EL and below are danger zones on PvP server. Also the quest lines are really good here. In 30 minutes in SFM I gained a full level between 4 quests, combat xp, and disco.

I am curious what UI are you using. I like the look of it. As for the experiment I am very interested in the outcome. Hoping to have my kids involved in that someday(they watch me right now).

I am using profit UI - I love some of the pieces - add loads of great functionality. Many small things I take for granted until I a see the game on the original UI. The great thing about it, just like the original, it is still completely customizeable - Put the pieces where you like. I personally like everything close to bottom and top and narrow if anything on the sides for as much field of view as possible.

Anyway, last night my coercer dinged 57! It has been amazingly quick based upon my prior leveling experiences. My son is honestly much less involved now with Theoric cuz I am playing so much! He instead now has his own account and is leveling up a mystic because he thinks shape changing is the coolest thing in the world. I have a druid already - of course I steer him to toons I don't have in case I want to play them :P.

So, when I am not playing he plays for me either Theorec the 57 Coercer or Theodrik the 37 zerker. Then we now have Shadrac the Mystic and Meeshak the Paladin.

Here I am in one of the new TSO instances in EF - great times.
