It seem I recall some trick where you could enter a command line that would give the location of any npc in zone - any of you remember this?

Yes the guards do... I wasn't aware of a command that did that ... if there is one, please post it up here.

Cyan, I want to say it was even discussed in one of the podcasts. It pointed to some sort of server that processed the request and sent it back with a loc on your map and the "your target is south and below you" type of message.
I distinctly remember using this. I call it a trick because it is not intended by SOE yet does not breat the ULA.

Hmm, no it was a find npc function. I remember it because I needed an npc in antonica for the early betrayal stuff and he was a very rare spawn and despawned after someone interacted with him. As soon as I would zone in to antonica I would use it to find out if he was up.
