I played again a little last night, and Theo and I have been messing around with voice chat.
I know I am late to the party on this, but SOE should be commended for "dumbing" it down and making it as simple of a thing to do as can be possible and done within game (and in the games UI).
I am really impressed by it. Do you guys utilize it? It seems like people are still using Guild TS/Vent servers and the like, trying to figure out why it isn't utilized more.

I am thinking for large guilds and such Vent/TS may still be preferable only because of the cleaner interface, ability to separate channels etc. However, it would be easy to give everyone separate channel info that is available, channels can be password protected etc.
Most importantly - unlike TS or vent, I can send a voice invite that you can join without the need for giving server info etc. or even alt/tabbing. Very nice.

I've been impressed with it too, its just there and ready for me if I want to group (and eventually raid), I couldn't see myself splashing out on Ventrillo here now.
The only downside I've seen so far for it is normally in the guild chat if someone keeps pressing the talk button without talking, I'm guessing its a faulty mic setup, not sure why they cause so much trouble, but the in game chat on DoD Source for me just refuses to work for me (I just get static) while the same mic works fine elsewhere.
The other big addition though guild halls, I finally visited the one our level 76 guild built (with help from my 90+ trips), its impressive, looks great, is kind of handy although I think its more there to make things easy as a reward and a novelty then anything else. The upkeep costs are staggering though, at least to my level 40ish characters contributions.

Voice chat is great, but our guild still uses VENT mainly because we paid the bill already. :) Voice chat is great for pickup groups.
