I don't know, I like Conan, I really like War, even WoW has its perks. At its launch and peak however WoW nor any other game could possibly take me away from my beloved EQ2. With the launch of Nagafen/PVP that love went all out obsession and included my increased participation with EQ2-daily.
After having left for AoC and War both - I am left saying they each are good in their own right. They are different and have aspects that I uniquely love about them. However, I still miss my glory days in Nagafen.
EQ2 has this wierd thing. IMHO they represent the most fully featured, polished game in existence yet their population is poor, at least relatively so - much more so compared with WoW and other competition that it alone (population that is) hurts its viability (AoC is in same predicament now)
Yet I still miss those glory days. The major PVE content aside (which is robust and great) - how about collection quests, tome quests, ridiculous crafting system (subsystems added), custom inn rooms, AA that is separate entirely from basic xp system (HUGE benefit, yet another motivation to play in different ways), no telling what else I am just failing to include. Add to all of that PvP faction and gear on PvP servers - just so much to play for!
My gripe was that PvP was an afterthought - however, so many systems in EQ2 will never even be on the radar of War - it is not their focus - and in the end they are things I will sorely miss. Can an MMO not have the best of both worlds? I am not sure if I will ever be as content as I was in Nagafen's early days. Will I always consider that time the highlight of my gaming experience?

Theo Not sure my friend, I wonder that as well. That was by far the most fun I've ever had in an MMO.

I totally agree that EQ2 had something magical about it those first few months of PvP on Nagafen. For me it was more than the original EQ, I really had a blast playing it. War is growing tired on me. I still enjoy it but the appeal is starting to wax and wane a bit. I think part of it is just because I don't have near the time I used to have in those first few formative months on Nagafen. I logged into EQ2 a few nights ago hoping to see a huge player base ( and more importantly a reason) to come back to EQ2 and I just didn't. The guild I was in had disbanded and I was too tired to look for another one. I probably will get back in to it some with Shadow release, I just hope they do it well as compared to Kunark. I really think Kunark will be looked back on as the start of the end for EQ2 (I hope I am wrong) but it just seems like that is the point at which a lot of the people I play with started to get a distaste for the game.
Who knows, maybe Shadow Odyssey will blow us all away.
I do however think they need to stop releasing the nostalgia expasions, I think it is really really dragging them down. They need to create something new and exciting instead of a rehash of EQ1 content.
After playing both AOC and WAR though I do think that WOW and EQ2 certainly do have a the staying power. I think WOW is more so, but they HAVE to start getting expansions out quicker.
