Totally ridiculous. 2-3 hours to fight one mob is pretty epic. I think that would be plenty long enough.

Honestly, if you are not counting attempts, but just one strait through fight, I would say 30-45 min is plenty long enough. If something is taking multiple attempts then it is a different story. If some hardcore raid guild trying a mob strait for 18 hours, that is crazy but not really all that bad imho, but if one single fight can last 15 hours and you still not win, something is wrong. Does anyone remember how long it took to take down the sleeper in EQ1 the first time someone actually took it down?

Incredible, I remember my first raid boss in WoW when it took 10 minutes thinking this was long, 18 hours is just plain silly, I assumed this guy isn't supposed to be killable, but if one of the commentators is right then they were actually doing the fight correctly but decided that it would take another 5 hours to get him down....
And I really don't want to think the sort of conditions they must have been experiencing after 18 hours.
I can't say I'll be trying their game any time soon since they seem to be suffering from a lack of imagination/play testing :) The longest WoW fight is 22 minutes, and that has multiple phases etc you need to take care of (there are some good fun teamwork game mechanics in there), if anything all the fights there are capped on time normally at 6-10 minutes with a hard enrage, and reading this I think I understand why.
I'm still playing casual in EQ2, but looking forward to seeing what the raiding there is like, out of interest, does anyone know what sort of times the EQ2 (and EQ1) boss fights take for a comparison?

Laz would prob know better about the Kunark end game but I think that the longest I was ever in may have been like 15-20 min.

According to multiple sources, it took 4 hours and 200 players to kill it: http://gotgame.corante.com/archives20031101.htmlthat's the original article and alot of good comments about it here: http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/11/26/1848238&mode=thread&tid=127&tid=186&tid=206&tid=209
