Well its been out almost a week and I have not been able to stop playing it. Anyone else think CoD4 may be the best Multiplayer FPS since sliced bread? Graphics, Sound, Gameplay this game has everything. It is probably the first game that takes full advantage of what the Xbox360 has to offer that I like. I am sure its sweet on PC and PS3 as well. Assasins Creed tomorrow too!! RoK tomorrow!! Great few weeks for the average video game junkie like myself!!

I love it. I haven't spent a lot of time in multiplayer as I'm running through the campaign right now but I deffinately want to spend some time online with it. I am not usually a fan of FPS's on consoles but this game seems to have gotten it right.
I'm holding off on Assassin's Creed to put it on the Christmas list and I want to wait till have ROK so I can spend some serious time playing it as well.

COD4 campaign is just jaw dropping. This game should win GOY. Gameplay is amazing. It is definately modern warfare at its best, and its about time!! I have personelly had my fill of the WWII FPS. The AI is smart as well it seems they adjust to what you do. There are times when you are pinned down by waves of insurgents and just have to hunker down and fight your way through it. There definately is no John Rambo type of action in this game. If you bum rush the enemy you surely will get mowed down quick. The campaign is actually split between the Middle East and Russia. The story line is very cool so far. The graphics on a HDTV are simply picture perfect. Very very sweet. Finally a game that takes advantage of the new graphics technology (on a console). BTW a friend who owns a brand new PS3 advised that the X360 version of it looked a bit crisper. We both have the HDMI setup TV's. I think the X360 would have the edge anyways becuase of Xbox Live.
As for the online multiplayer I do not think it gets any better then this. You actually have to level your character to I believe 55. Leveling up is fun and exciting. With each rank you unlock new weapons, explosives, attachments (scopes, m16 grenade launchers, sub machine gun extra grips, etc), challenges, and perks. The better you are the faster you can level but it still does not take anything away from this game. I have spent over 4 hours a day on this game since last tuesday and am only 28. Even thought the higher level guys you go up against have better gear they can be overcome with team work and patience, HINT let them come to you. The online system does a decent job of matching up the level of characters with your current party. I currently roll with 5 people that range from level 18 to 44 and they mix and match us up good against oponents.
You get 5 custom character slots that you end up filling up very quickly once you get going. I have an assualt rifle type, sniper, close combat shotgunner, heavy gunner, and a mess around type for my 5 slots. The guns all have a range of 6 different stats, Damage, Range, Mobility, Rate of Fire, Accuracey, and I believe ammo that change when you unlock stuff. I change them all frequently as things get unlocked. I believe there are 16 different maps ranging from the battle torn Middle East to Russia. Different style maps definately make use of the custom characters you create.
Challenges come in waves for every gun and then eventually you unlock different kinds such as Boot camp complete with over 50 challenges, killer, and prestige mode I believe. One type of gun challenge would be with your M16. The first phase would be to kill 25 people with it and you would recieve 100 xtra XP. The second phase would be to kill 75 people with it and the reward would be either a scope or digital camo(camo that adjusts to the type of map). The third phase would be kill 150 people and it rewards you with a BIG boost in xp of 1000. There is an entire second challenge for each gun that includes getting 25/75/150 head shots with even sweeter rewards. There is even that MMO XP type bar at the bottom of your screen that you get to watch level up as your killing!
As for the perks you get three kinds to help boost your marine, sos, or bad guy. Its completely random for what side your team or self ends up on with online play but your guns and setup do not change just the character model.
Perk1 = array of explosives including the helicopter killer RPG launcher. Or you can forgo this perk for an extra added bonus to your gun like the M16 with attached grenade launcher. Or my favorite heavy machine gun with extra grip for added accuracy.
Perk2 = another array of things such as Juggernaut for increased health, stopping power for added bullet damage, last stand for when your shot and down you get one last chance to pull out your side arm and waste whoever got ya and much much more.
Perk3 = another array of extra bonuses such as a radar jammer so you cannot be seen when radar is up, deep inpact(Bullets that blast through up to two levels of concrete, steady aim to fire from the hip with more accuracy, etc etc.
In online game if your on a tear you are equally rewarded. 3 kills in a row and you can call up a UAV radar for the entire team for a period of time. This shows enemy positons on your radar map. 5 kills in a row and its time to call in an airstrike in which its good to have the UAV up for this to see where to mark the bomb zone. 10 kills in a row and you can call in a helicopter to mow down your foes but it can also be shot down.
The leader board tracks everything from wins, points, ranks, kill/death ratio, and accuracy for your friends list and everyone online. There is a built in Clan Tag function that is unlocked at level 12 as well. All #levels are associated with an armed forces type of rank.
The longevity of this game is there. I have never played a FPS this diverse and addicting. Alot of people you play with online are just straight up amazed at everything this game does. As for a comparison of GOW and COD4 there is none. GOW was great, Halo3 was good, COD4 is like no other.
