So compared to EQ2 PvP what does everyone think?
I really didn't get to play much PvP in beta so this morning was my first experience at it. Here re my thoughts:
a.) Grieving is full on. I kinda like it because, hey it is hardcore, but sometimes it can be a pain to res. I think REZ's will play a bigger part in this game if you have a priest who can high tail it and hide to come back and rez. Camping the spawn points seems to be on everyone's agenda.
b.) Atleast so far, you really gotta group more. Walking in a big pack is going to be much more appealing in AOC than EQ2. I expect there will be bigger and bigger more geospaitally concentrated fights in AOC than EQ2. Which is a good thing though.
c.) Shit talking it fun. EQ2 never really had it unless you had two accounts or actively tried to get around it.
Thoughts?

It is definitely not for the gentle hearted :)
This is full fledged, no rules pvp. On respawns you can be immediately attacked with only 10% health - that I dont like. I mean, what point does it server to allow you to be immediately attackable when you dont even have your health?

I really think that because the PvP is unstructured, there will be more structure to it.
I know that sound counterintuitive, but EQ2 had such a structured system with city vs city and only within specific levels until the higher tiers, than it made chances for big PvP fights so rare because all these different factors had to be in play before it could all happen. Of course us as eq2 pvp players also had to learn (and in some cases never know) the systems.
AOC is different in that there really are no rules (except that your group members are safe from your attacks) and I think that people are in general really going to think twice about pvp in some cases where in eq2, you did it just because the opportunity presented itself and it was so rare that you didn't want to pass it up (ie ganking a lowbie in sinking sands etc). but with conan it is all around you. Theo Laz and I did a bunch of missions last night and it seemed like initially when we came across someone we fought, but as each group kinda realized what the other was trying to do (and not specifically kill the other) we seemed to kinda let people go more.
I am interested to see if this plays out more at higher levels.

All I know is it is hell of a lot of fun :)
That said, for those that don't like the frustration of being ganked - this will be the worst possible pvp experience - all other pvp MMO's are mild and safe comared to Conan at this point.
You have to approach this game with the right frame of mind and find some good friends :)
