Funcom has revealed that getting to level 80 in upcoming MMO Age of Conan will take on average 250 hours.

Speaking at the game's official launch in Oslo, Norway, Game Director Gaute Godager said that Age of Conan's "levelling curve provides on average 250 hours of gameplay".

He also explained that it will take between two to three hours to gain a level in the game right up to level 60....

welcome to the forums kenangm :)

I really don't know how I feel about this. It seems like it would have taken much longer for EQ2 at release, but I honestly don't know the exact "avg". Do you guys think this is quick, slow or just right?

To me it seems a little quick, but then again Conan has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more pvp features than EQ2 had at start (of pvp) and conan has more at launch than EQ2 has as of now. So maybe the push to max level in EQ2 was for raiding, but in conan is more for pvp/raiding combo. What do you guys think of this? good/bad? I really don't think I will know till I max personally.

I think that sounds about right but I think everyone has a different take on what "right" is. That equals just over 10 days played time. I'm pretty sure I hit max level in EQ2 before that point. My WOW priest hit max level much faster than that and I remember playing Vanguard around level 12 or so think wow.. this is going to take forever and it being a turn off (the slow leveling in that game.)

I think the best system is one that keeps the carrot (leveling) just far enough away to make it rewarding but not making you feel like you need to take on the equivalent of a second full time job to make it to max level. You want to have that feeling where if you just stay on another 30 minutes you can ding, get new spells etc... The feeling where you say, you know I really could make it to "end game" if I just plug away and can also continue to keep things going in real life. I'm looking for a more casual MMO experience these days, and I'm hoping Conan will fit the bill.

The problem I have with fast leveling is how much it devalues equipment for all but end tiers. If I was really looking to level in EQ2 I had a hard time spending cash on anything up until probably level 50 - it was not worth it to me because of how quickly I would level - "save your money and blow it next tier" was kindv my thinking.

Sometimes I think scaleable gear like in EQ1 would be better and make everything hold value.
