But i am actually have fun, WHATS WRONG WITH ME!?!?! lol Why do i feel such shame???? Don't feel shame Steven, I installed it also over the weekend. I am only like lvl 10 warlock, but here are some thoughts so far: * I still don't enjoy the styalized graphics, I think that they have gotten a lot better than when I played before (2-3 years ago) but the difference now is that a lot of the armor/items look a lot better than they used to (or atleast more uber). * I am totally not used to playing on such a crowded server (even with Nagafen). I am on a medium population pvp server (Warsong) and going into a city is absolute chaos. There are people everywhere, absolutly everywhere. It is kinda a pain getting to the mailboxes or brokers at some point (so many toons in front of you). * I didn't know how pvp worked, and I asked some one and they said and I quote "Just like Diablo, so be careful with your money and items" and I was like "holy shit this is hardcore" so I run to the bank (and you can't deposit money at the bank) and was like, "oh hell, I don't want to lose any money or items, this is a suck and a half" turns out he was lying and it isn't that bad. (Still freaks me out to carry money around though). * I enjoy having contested lands and control point (I have not played any of the 2v2/3v3/5v5 stuff or battleground either) but the overland pvp is very rich. * I didn't realize how much I enjoy not zoning. Especially in really large cities you can go from city part to city part (just like qeynos) and it is seemless, which is pretty sweet. * The itemization is pretty standard compared to eq2 though. I think as a whole in the first 20 levels there is X number of Items with Y number of attributes that can be changed to create a "new" item. I do enjoy how eq2 has some fabled/legendary stuff in the first 2 tiers. * I like not having 5 levels of spells, for 1 spell (master I, apprecntice, etc). I just have 1 spell, thats it. * I wish there were more classes in WoW. EQ2 is pretty far ahead in that regard. * there are SOOOOOOOO many similarities in small subsystems on EQ2 and WoW. It is actually pretty amazing, I think the guys at blizzard and smed must have lunch to discuss or something, or some really well placed spies. I picked up Enchanting as a tradeskill, it is the EXACT same thing (at elast so far) as transmuting, it is just called transmuting. "Engineering" in WoW, seems to be "Tinkering" in eq2. They have gems that can be added to slots on weapons (adornments anyone?). If you know how to play WOW you have a huge headstart in EQ2. If you know how to play EQ2 you have a huge start in WoW. At this rate I would not be surprised if EQ2 has "hero" classes next expansion. Please note I have no clue which game had these systems first, just saying they are pretty much the exact same thing.

Grrr, even after a solid day of play on EQ2 and gaining an entire level of exp I'm tempted re reinstall WoW.
I'm fighting the urge.

I think many people were turned off with the memory error bugs, long zoning times, forced progression through solo questing, flagging for raids and crappy dungeon exp. You have to really want to progress to put up with all that crap and not turn elsewhere for a better performing and more rewarding game. I agree though, it is a bit scary for the future as EQ2. I bet what we see here on this forum is happing elsewhere as well. Wait until Warhammer / Conan hit. On Nagafen, I'm thinking we are going to lose a lot of people to Warhammer. I know I have guildies playing the beta and they love it.

All the stuff you just mentioned (and the stuff we talked about on pc 51) is why I started looking around at other games. I have not by any means quit EQ2 though or anything, I think a casual play balance can be met with EQ2 and other games. There are just so many other games out there (not just WOW - but 360 games etc) that are so well done, and I don't have to invest amazing amounts of time into like EQ2. And the big reason I started looking around at other stuff is the fact that I don't see EQ2 PvP going anywhere. It is (and always will be?) char vs char PvP in a PvE setting. I really want something with more indepth PvP. Warhammer has been getting rave RvR reviews and I loved DAOC's RvR so I am pretty excited about that and hope to slip into that beta soon. (anyone know anyone?) But i am having fun in Azeroth also. I am just starting to experience the different types of PvP in WOW but it seems a lot more fun. I do enjoy trying to slink through zones that are controlled by other Horde without getting caught, etc etc. Something EQ2 just doesn't have. Although last night I spent most of the night playing Forsworn. As of right now (and the time I have to dedicate to gaming) LON is where it is at for me. I know SOE loves it (I spend more than $15 a month on it vs EQ2) and they are still collecting my dough, so it is a win win. I have a feeling LON will be getting more and more attention as the sets grow.

Those two do it for me. I get limited play time and when I fly into Tern's Gap only to have my machine shut down EQ2 or get stuck on a group portion of a quest series and can't find anybody to group with I go do something else.

What is crazy is how quickly I feel some burn out with RoK - I mean for a game I have played three years now there have been times I have felt this way but this soon after an expansion? It is a combination of everything mentioned here and some other things I just dont think I can articulate because I really don't know.
I mean, on the surface, I really like the expansion. And here I am a few weeks in and I also have redownloaded a WoW client - ouch and scary.
But, I am not going anywhere anytime soon, just need a change is all I can say. So, some random full on pvp WoW server here I come.

For me, its most things already mentioned and after 3+ years just got bored. I mean only 1 new spell, and yes same zones, but just the same ole same ole. I played almost all classes and just have no desire to go into varsoons or somewhere again for the 5,000 time. After an expansion, I was always totally back into EQ, but not this one. As for WOW, I really am having a blast, play a Hunter when I solo and a Mage when my buddy logs on. I have actually had a bunch of ppl be really nice to me, had someone enchant all my items for free and ppl ask do i need help. Of course 1 or 2 morons but cant avoid them, overall, seems WOW's gotten a little better, or maybe just my server. Anyways, not saying its better then EQ, but I am just having fun right now, something I wasn't in EQ.

The majority of people I have encountered are very friendly, but there are some assholes in there too. I'm on PvP so that also probably ups the asshole threshhold also.
