it's hard to believe this is accidental.
I'm not saying that CCP did this intentionally...but I have a really hard time thinking some coder wrote this into the patch.
the consipiracy theorist in me says this was a malicious code change. Maybe an ex-employee?
Or maybe not...I dunno....

That's one of the worst errors I've seen in recent history. Hellllo, class action lawsuit! The response from CCP seems pretty weak, too.
