I am enjoying it, but really slow on the leveling - enjoying the content. In fact I am making four new toons to work through the starter content in different areas and see which melee dps I like best. Have a human fury warrior, Night Elf feral druid, Drenei enhance shaman, and dwarf hunter (just for fun)
I really like how quests in the lvl 12-15 range incorporate battlefronts and places destroyed since the shattering.
Has any other game this drastically changed their world's content? It is a very aggressive approach to MMO game design which I find refreshing.

That's new to me. Getting close now... Too bad my pally is only 62 - I'm going to be stuck in the old two expansions for a while. As far as leveling speed goes theo, do the recruit a friend, you can do that up to 60 and get 3x quest and mob experience - should be able to quest 1-60 in 48 hours of game time. Laz

I am obviously a huge backer of eq2 - I personally think it has the greatest foundation of any MMO out there - meaning combination of all that is available combat to non-combat.
I am currently playing WoW and it has been a refreshing experience. I find myself frustrated at times with what it lacks comparatively to eq2 - it is inarguable that WoW is far simpler and more streamlined in everything they do. Perhaps from a design standpoint that is what allows them to do things so well.
The one lesson EQ2 devs need to learn from the current post-Cataclysm WoW is how the content is presented. Fact is there is far more I like about EQ2 than WoW but not currently in what matters the most - the content. WOW has a verve and fun-factor in how the content is implemented that leaves EQ2 feeling stale and blah.
I have ridden a dragon within a massive tornado and directed it to hurl fireballs at flying harpies attacking Darkshore. I have merged with an elemental being to fly atop a volcano to destroy the fire elemental causing Ashenvale to burn. I have been a dwarf flying a gnome aircraft above armies of goblins only to drop bombs on multitudes at a time. I have ridden a huge Ent type tree creature to mash orcs under my feet. I have mounted a laser type cannon to shoot down harpies out of the sky (Warhammer has the same). And I have done all of this by the time I am level 28!
The current content revamp which is old world stuff and can be played without a single expansion since release incredibly surpasses anything I have done in EQ2. If I was to take aspect by aspect of what I like about EQ2 versus WoW - EQ2 would win 3/4 times. That is not enough to overcome a complete beatdown in content - not amount of content, but fun-factor content, unique content, and change of pace content.
If Velious can learn from Cataclysm and bring something similar - I would run back to Norrath in a heartbeat.
