Been very busy lately and just got a chance to create a character last night on the EQ2X servers. I had envisioned creating a Dwarf Inquis in New Halas, so I logged in (with my currently paid sub) and downloaded EQ2X front end. After installing that I logged into the new launcher and started to create my character. I had some station cash on my account already so I purchased the Dwarf race and then setup my guy, and bummed around New Halas for about 30 min. I wanted all access to chat and some other stuff so I went ahead and bumped up to the silver account. So here is where my confusion sets in, since I am still a paying customer for the regular EQ2 servers, does that have any bearing on the EQ2X servers? If I want a gold account (at some point) on EQ2X is that another $15 a month fee (even though it is under the same account?)

If I decided to only play my silver account on EQ2X and cancel my regular EQ2 sub will my chars still be locked away in a vault for if I ever wanted to come back and play on reg servs? Are they 2 completely separate billing systems even under the same SOE login?

I kind of assumed that the live subscription would get a gold subscription on EQ2X, but apparently a free gold subscription on EQ2X is a perk of having station access, so I guess not, in which case they must be completely seperate subscriptions.

I've got station access just for the reason that I also play planetside, so I'm effectively paying £2 a month extra for 5 more character slots and a chance to experience everything else. No plans for trying EQ2X ;) Too much to do as it is (I met some great people who play on Kithicor at the fanfaire, although totally failed to locate any of the EQ2Daily crew :( I totally underestimated how hard it was to find people in a crowd, although I did hear Leko speak at least).

There is talk though of a new EQ2 option to allow access to more then 7 characters since they removed the /camp exploit that allowed people to previously play more then 7 characters on a normal account.

As an aside I'm actually feeling good about EQ2's future, at least in the gameplay terms with some of the changes being made putting some challenge back in, the high end was (and is currently) a bit borked with capped stats and OP abilities, so its good to see some fixes put in there after the largely empty GU57.

Having an EQ2 Live sub gives you nothing on EQ2X. You would be a Bronze.

Having a Station Access pass gives you Gold on EQ2X.

If you cancel your EQ2 sub it would have no effect (not talking about Station Access here) on your EQ2X account.

They are separate billing except for Station Cash and purchased expansions. If you have SF on your EQ2 Live account that would be recognized on EQ2X and you would be able to play to level 90.

Where it gets tricky is when this situation happens.

You have a Station Access pass which grants you Gold on EQ2X. You roll a Necro. Later you cancel your Station Access pass. You would not have access to the Necro because that is a restricted class. You would have to purchase the class unlock for 750 sc.

Or, you have a Station Access pass. You roll a Wizard (free class) and play him to 90. He is wearing Legendary and Fabled gear. You then cancel your Station Access pass. The gear would be removed from the toon because you need a Gold acct or higher to wear Legendary and Fabled.

Sorry, missed this the first time.

If you wanted Gold on EQ2X and wanted to play on Live you would need to pay the subscription for both. But at that point its nearly the same as Access so I think you'd probably just do that.
