If you play a Silver level player on EQ2X you are restricted to 20 gold per level.

So a level 80 toon can only carry 16 Plat.

If a guild only has Bronze and Silver players - they can't buy a level 30 guild hall which costs 50 Plat.

So, in effect, SoE is requiring a guild to have at least 1 Gold subscriber or to trust a Gold subscriber to manage the guild and the 50 plat temporarily.

Seems like bad form to me.

How interesting. I was unaware there was a restriction on the gold a player can carry. is that for limiting duping purposes? I remember reading about how if you want to move a character over then you will lose all coins, which makes more sense now.

What would you say the ration of bronze/silver/gold players is at right now?

Bronze players can only have 5 gold per max level and Silver can have only 20 gold per level.

The work around is easy enough - you can buy stacks of expensive tradeskill fuel and bank it. Then when you need coin you just sell it back to the NPC.

But the problem happens when you need to buy something. You can't carry enough coin to buy something expensive.

I hadn't thought about duping. I think they want to restrict how much gold farming someone can do on a free account.

It's hard to get a feel of the break down of subscription levels. But the level 1-9 chat is full (only Silver and higher can use chat) so there are people who are paying.

There is also a fair amount of people chatting using /say and /yell which means they are probably Bronze.

Our guild has over 115 members - all Bronze and Silver - and we've had to turn a lot away due to their starting city.

Some other interesting stuff.

Crafters are selling their stuff really cheap and using the /say in the tradeskill areas. So if you want to buy some backpacks you just head down to the crafting area and buy from a crafter there.

Some Silver players (like me) help out Bronze players when they are using /say to look for group. I'll just put in the 1-9 chat, 'XYZ is forming group for SH. Please sent tell to XYZ if interested.'

Since Bronze and Silver players can't use the broker (note - they also cannot buy from a house!) there seems to be a lot of gift giving. I've had several people just open up trade windows and give me food and spells for my class.

I think you will start to see more families move over to the Extended server. If you have a wife and 2 kids who all player EQ2 is can be pretty expensive. On the X server you can pony up for 4 Silver accounts costing 40.00 and you're good.
