I originally posted this on the EQ2X forums. I really value your input and knowledge of the game so I thought I'd repost it here. I think some of you have had this type of experience before (was BT187 a level lock guild).
Anyway, here is the post.
Quote:Our guild, The Bronze Age, is a level locking guild.
The way we define that is at every tier players lock their levels until the guild catches up.
For example, we are currently locked at 22. When the guild reaches 20 we will unlock. Then players can progress to 32. There they will lock again until the guild reaches 30.
Just a few notes - there is no level lock on tradeskilling. You also can play an alt in another guild or guildless if you desire.
That being said, our guild is having productive discussions on the idea and mechanics of level locking.
For example, one idea that was proposed is that locks should happen every 5 levels rather than 10. This way players aren't 'sitting around' for as long.
Granted this style of play is not for everyone. If you don't like it then fine. Play in a guild without a level locking system.
But what options/ideas/strategies can be implemented to make this type of guild mechanic less painful for those who tend to progress very quickly.
I'd appreciate any thoughtful ideas.
