I'm not sure here if I would describe Blizzard as ahead of the competition, they were second getting to the party with the cash shop for example, and second with their version of station access. Plus this is just the next step onwards from the live feed that Zam get from EQ2.
But its a cool feature for sure and the next step ahead of the Zam live feed (a question I'll have for Zam, will they offer an app to view the auction features), if EQ2 had it I'd certainly be a subscriber.
Now, all they need to add to the game is a meaningful economy that lasts beyond the first 3 months of the 2 year expansion cycle and they'll have it all ;)

Wow is so far ahead because of the things like SOE giving that data to zam and not opening it up to everyone. For what it is worth Zam has done some good stuff with the data, just not anything on this level. I still believe SOE made a mistake in not opening it up for everyone to write apps on.

I wonder just how much money then SOE are making from the deal with ZAM? If its not a lot then I bet Smed is currently sitting in his office with a calculator and figuring out how much more they should be making... Maybe things will change them, but I do expect it'll be involving a new way to make money.
