Great way to curb griefing.... Not sure I would dig the privacy implications though:

I'm going to be very interested to see how this works out for them, I definitely give them Kudos for trying something new here, seeing how people put more details on Facebook I'm not sure if it is all that risky. Reading the forums there I can understand why they are trying it, some of the posting is awful including to their devs, although seeing how they seem to silently ban anyone who mentions a non-Blizzard game (its spooky how the entire forum has zero mentions of say Everquest) and wipe posts I'd never rate their board as high as EQ2's.

Here also is another seperate problem/effect where people seem to be able to use mods to find people's real data, here I'm not sure if that is intended, if it is allowed to continue though, if it is I can see a new level of griefing :P

Blizzard decided to nix the policy.

Instead they're going to allow forum readers to vote up and vote down posts with those getting voted down to be hidden.

Disappointing, I was hoping they would follow through with this feature just out of curiosity to see what it resulted in :)

I think this is horrible. I wouldn't want some perv freako knowing my real name. I don't want some moron showing up at my door with their guild cloak on.
