New EverQuest II Producer
:( I know some people didn't like him, but he was always extremely nice with us and was very helpful to us on the podcast when I think SOE didn't want to necessarily help us out (or be associated with us, which to be fair the podcast could be edgy at times). Will def miss him and wish him nothing but the best.

It all seems a bit strange, and sudden. A single sentence post on the official forum? Can't help feeling there's a whole lot of story going on in the background that we'll probably never hear...

Not sure what to make of his legacy as a producer, so much of what has been released would have been in development for a year or so, so its probably only just now we're seeing the real results. His day to day handling was good though, while grey shard runs etc had been left to run before, he did clamp down hard on exploiters with new things introduced, delay product releases to get better quality etc. Just a one liner to leave on seems very strange, I'd expect to at least a farewell letter from someone who's been in the company so long, and is so well known. David Georgeson is an unknown to me, the fact he was involved with Planetside in the early days I find very promising though, that game feels so polished to me without rough edges, so they must have got something right.

Hmm, one more oddity on David Georgeson’s LinkD profileQuote: February 2010 — Present (3 months)
I've assumed leadership for the "Everquest II" product in order to take something cool and successful and make it even more so! If the date is correct then this has been in the plan for several months already, and would sound like a planned handover of work then a office bustup! I still would like to see a departing letter.

On new Sr Producer's Linked in Profile:
External Designer Strategic Simulations Inc. (Computer Software industry) 1989 — 1991 (2 years ) Worked as a Designer on the "Pools of Radiance" series of games (official AD&D license in their original "gold box" products).
Oh man, I loved that game. SSI put out some awesome games during that time.

Brenlo put podcast #83 out a week or so ago and was talking about plans for attending FanFaire and GenCon in the coming months. Based on his comments, there was no sign of his imminent departure. He also apologized for continuously calling Amy, "Asslane." I went back and listened to podcast #81 and he called her that about 12 times to the point where you can tell she got really pissed off about it. He also made some jokes about arabs and just generally was acting like a bull in a china shop. Perhaps he got the axe on a harassment issue or something similar - who knows. Whatever it was, it was very fast and unexpected and my bet is it wasn't on his accord.
Thinking about the SF release, there have been a lot of issues such as the Halas delay, battleground exploits, 3.0 shader delay and poor itemization. On EQ2flames, they also have a thread going which says most of the devs didn't care much for him so that's never a good thing either. Certainly Brenlo is one of the guys you think about when you think about SOE so it's a pretty big blow. The new guy was a developer with "Zomg Online." That's funny. I want Scott Hartsman back.
