This came out of nowhere for me. For the Froglok its a singing dance! The troll one is just disturbing, but I really don't know how else I can view an almost naked female Troll. The animation quality is great on the Froglok. Lore wise though I'm really not sure how a Froglok should dance... I guess using their feet a lot makes sense, though I'd much prefer to see a something created that the race would likely do, rather then pop culture or human themed dances/actions grafted on, this one feels a bit too frivilous for my character most of the time so I'd stick with the standard daft EQ2 dance.
I do even wonder what the plan for these are as looking at the site they do say
Tom TobeyQuote:Those dances don't necessarily synch to the music, the tunes are more there for flavor, and the racial dances are not planned for anytime soon. I'm working on some bigger things that will really make you happy.
What I really like about these though is that they are being done, does this mean that they are going to after many years of not adding to it, add to the number of animations etc? Hoping here that they can add a few new combat animations to mix in with the ones already there, motion captured quality ones really would spice up combat a bit. Adding the mounting animations back in etc would all be good fun, anything that makes the game more immersive has my vote.
Edit : I'm liking this development not for the dances themselves, while the Froglok is well done its too out of character, the Troll one has the arms elongating a bit, the actual quality of the Froglok one is spot on. But instead its because it shows some interest in developing the RPG side instead of just the game mechanics part of the game.
WoW shows the opposite way to go here, each patch they add something else that breaks or chips away at the immersion of the world just to add to what they believe is gameplay, or more often the ease of getting at that gameplay. If EQ2 isn't going in that direction then I'm very hopeful for the future.
