One thing there (apart from the revelation about Canadians playing WoW :) ) that surprised me
Quote:Indeed, World of Warcraft is among the most popular online pastimes today, boasting more than 14 million players in dozens of countries — including Canada. But this is the Internet, and Blizzard is in California. Roberson’s subpoena was nothing more than a politely worded request, considering the limits of his law enforcement jurisdiction and the ambiguity of the online world.
Where did they get the 14 million figure from? Last I heard it was 11 million and then 6 million Chinese turned into zero, sounds suspect since Activision-Blizzard have been quiet on subscriber figures ever since the Chinese operator swap. If anything the subscriber base sounds like it is diminishing, since so far based on VGChartz who recorded retail sales ending July 12th 2009. WotLK had sold approximately 1.5 million retails copies less than TBC.
