With latest update to pvp tokens and reducing pvp gear costs - WOW - it reminds me of RoK launch or server launch. The pvp zerg-fest is full fledge.

This is prior to server merge - all I can say is the server is not ready - the lag is horrible. If there is a fix in the works they had better bring it fast.

The only thing that sucks is all the time pvp players have wasted on gaining shard gear. Fabled pvp gear is better than tier 3 shard gear (correction - on par with T3 shard gear) and it can be obtained now in FAR less time. Good times!

I've heard conflicting stories about the pvp changes. Most people seem to say that the gear is great but way too easy to get, basically making shard gear and most raid gear worthless. In other words, why group up for instances or raid when you can get this new pvp stuff in no time at all? What are your thoughts Theo? Here is a short post on the subject which was recently deleted from the EQ2 official forums.

"Are you sick of having to rely on 23 other people to get the best gear in the game? Are you sick of having to rely on a group to get shard armor out of TSO herioc zones? Nagafen has the solution to all your armor problems! If you play now you can get a FULL set of armor in 3 days of casual play (2 days if you have higher playtimes.)You might wonder how is this possible? Well thanks to the amazing changes of GU53 you can now SOLO and get a full set of armor that is just barely below the quality of TSO raid armor that requires 24 people to learn a script and execute it, all in hopes of getting 1 piece of armor for 1 person.

Excited yet? I know I am, here are some examples of how amazing this solo gear can be. Dont pvp? It doesnt matter! The tokens are heirloom which means you can transfer them to an alt you just got to level 80, you never have to take that character out of an instance in its life! A little background on the writ system for players excited about joining Nagafen but not sure where to start. You get a pvp writ (in the form of a quest) that requires you to kill 6 people. You kill those 6 people and get 5 tokens. You cannot get a new writ for 10minutes, 30 tokens an hour. Most people on Nagafen already had a large token pool from pvping for the past 8 months, if you had 1 TSO token you can exchange it for 5 new discord tokens (introduced in GU53) Which means if you had 100 old tokens you now have 500 new tokens. But dont worry! If you are new to the server you can pvp for 2-3 days and have a full suit of amazing armor! Just hit as many AoE's as you can and everybody gets that update!"

absolutely true. The changes in effect give pvp'ers a cheap way to get gear - I mean cheap in that it is too easy and almost nearing wrong. I will put it this way - in all my days on eq1 and eq2 and I have never seen gear this relatively good provided so relatively easy. But hey, I am out there with the rest of them getting it as fast as I can!

It is not on par with TSO raid stuff however - but it sure sets you up nicely. It should allow most pvp guilds to progress far more quickly than their pve counterparts - in that way - yes, it is a cheap way to progress.

Not only that, but imagine how raids only drop a few truly definitive pieces per raid requiring any raid zone to be done numerous times to gear the guild for the next in progression - this eliminates that all the way to TSO raiding. The plan is/was for this to be done through TSO shards - on pvp however shards just got majorly devalued.
