At about this time last year when Warhammer Online hit I started to veer away from EQ2. After my bout with Warhammer, I appreciated EQ2 a lot more (a different story for a different day) but did not have the amount of time to dedicate to the game that was needed in the higher levels to make it fun and enjoy a big group/guild. I created a mess of alts (one of which is almost level cap'd) but still felt like there was really not going to be a big end game for me with EQ2 because I needed to be able to really raid and I didn't have that amount of time. TSO really helped somewhat in this regard, but I don't feel like it helped me enough to keep me playing as much as I used to when we did the podcast. So with that, our podcast committed the ultimate podcast sin, it podfaded. The podcast run was extremely fun while it lasted, but even as we recorded those last few shows I felt like our single subject podcast (EQ2) of the early 40 podcasts got a lot more generalized even at the end. I love this site and this community so I have continued to play EQ2 and will in the foreseeable future, just not near as much as I used too and from a casual perspective.
As you can probably tell over the last few weeks I have done a couple of forum changes to bring this forum to where I wanted it in a sense that it was not only enjoyable for EQ2 players, but also general geeks like the people who are still hanging around and discussing from day to day. I still love reading how passionate everyone still is about EQ2 (just look at the last wolfsheadonline thread) and am very happy with the community that we have here on these boards today.
About a month or so ago a plan starting brewing in my head about getting the old crew back together to podcast. My vision was a podcast show that incorporated not only MMOs into the show, but also general console/pc gaming and also general geekness. I asked Rot and Val and they said they were with me, and I also asked another person to join us whom I have been friends with for years and whom I knew would mesh well. My vision was a podcast in which us 4 and from time to time podcast guests whom we had on EQ2-Daily's podcast (Leko, Theo, Laz, Dardore, etc) would feel comfortable jumping in and recording with us again.
Thus was born
Bombleshoot.
What is Bombleshoot? In my head it is like a "crapshoot", in that you never know what you are going to get, it is a crapshoot without the crap and a lot more bomble. What is bomble? Bomble is honest feelings about games, and not defending the typical industry bullshit that I hear on other podcasts. We don't get paid. We won't get paid (because of stuff like we used to do i.e. 30 minute diatribes on the merits of Olivia Newton John in Xanadu). We don't care if we have 1 million listeners, or only 12. We record this podcast because it gives us a chance to get together drink beer and talk about games. If we didn't do it on the podcast, we would be doing it anyways over vent or something. We like games period. We like drinking period. Get us all together to drink and you have the Wednesday Night Drinking Association, get us all together to talk games and you have a normal night on Vent. Put them together and add in a mic and you have the Bombleshoot Podcast.
We hope you cats dig it.
