So the EQ 51/50 server known as Mayong is scheduled to go live tomorrow. On this new server you can start any character at level 51 with 50 AA points, all your spells, a full set of defiant armor and weapons etc... You can try out any class and see what you like. You can skip all the kill 10 rats bullshit. There will be people to group with since everyone is starting at square one. I'm also thinking level 50 is probably the last time many of you stopped playing EQ so i might be fun to pick up where you left off without being 10 years behind the curve vs. other people on the server.
If you have an inactive account, I hear they are sending out free trial e-mails on Tuesday as well. Is there any interest in a casual (or not so casual) static group? Even if we had 2-3 people we could fill up a group with mercenaries and experience some pretty fun content. I'm going to play, probably as an enchanter to do something different, and would love to have you guys join me. I'd be willing to just do as little as 1-2 nights a week from say 9:00 EST to 12:00 EST or more depending on what the group wants to do. I plan to be online tomorrow night about 9 pm to get started - hope to see you there.

Laz, so how was the release? Everything you expected it to be? Was intrigued about it, but decided against it last minute. EQ2 is enough for me right this second.
If I wanted EQ style, I'd just sign into Shards of Dalaya. Plus it's free. Minus anything POK and after, it's still a good game.

I'm having a blast. The server is jam packed and there are plenty of groups in multiple zones for each level range 50-65ish. I'm pretty slow on the leveling as I haven't had much time to play but I did manage to get 62% into 53 before logging a few minutes ago. I spent a good portion of tonight with Theo and his cousin and we hit up Sol B in search of the Fungi King and Nagafen. We didn't do much on the xp front but we had fun for sure just exploring around the dungeon and trying to figure out how to play EQ once again. We had a few bugs to work out such as a whacky in game chat system but I think everyone had a good time. There are a few guilds forming that look like they will have what it takes to raid and people are progressing along nicely. I think it's been a great success but let's see how it does in the long term. I'm not sure a bonus exp weekend is what the server need but we shall see.
