It looks like we'll be getting the researchers mentioned finally in GU52, main news article post is here

There is no mention whether you can add them to guild halls, although I'm expecting it will be possible, with the one character per an account limit on research I'm thinking of hopping from one alt to another sometimes when there is one key spell well out of date. I guess it will depress the master prices too, although it sounds like unless you are very patient then buying/crafting/questing for the spells is a much faster route.

And even better they actually have mentioned Frogloks on the main page ;)

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that you will be able to have a researcher in your guild hall.

"The researchers are currently offering their services for Adept and Master level spells and combat arts. For skills below level 20, they only require a day to provide you with your upgrade. After level 20, the higher level the spell you require, the longer it will take them to accurately research the components, up to 30 days."

"The researchers are a busy lot, so they will only provide the service for you on one character per account. After all, they want to be able to help everyone!"

Up to 30 days?
1 per ACCOUNT?

God damn, you are fucking kidding me? What ANOTHER waste of developer money and time. This will be another long lost portion of the game that probably took months to execute, and now it'll just be another dust filled POS application.

It all depends on how powerful the Master IIs are. 30 days is a hell of a wait though. I think they should atleast allow each character to be working on one (with an account), just restrict the spell created to only that character (which I assumed they would do anyways).

Very Eve-like

Well look at it this way... With the exception of the VERY hardcore player, most level 80s have a few masters they would really really like but just can't get to drop or afford to buy on the broker. This gives the player a chance to get those masters. For Example I would love to get my offensive stance Master I on my Swashy, but I just can't afford it. Now I can atleast work towards getting it.

Not having Enough Plat, should not hold a player back, especially those of us who don't like to quest and only sign up to beat things... we are always broke.

That's part of the game though bro... looking for your masters. I spent many a tiers of raiding ONLY farming for my masters after I got my tier gear.

If you don't have the time to raid, you shouldn't be worrying about having masters. They are masters... if your casual, you are just fine in Adept III.

I totally agree with you man, plat should not hold a player back. But NOT having a master is not holding you back. It's making you WORK for it... not WAIT for it. Farm the plat for it, farm the instances for it, OR farm the raids for it. But you should have to work for your masters... masters are a privilege, not a right.

I'd agree with this, they've been careful here on adding these in and from what I can see they have gotten the mix just right, people levelling can pick them up a little faster, but unlikely to be fast enough for power levellers. And as soon as you hit the end game your best bet for progression is still to quest and raid, but if your luck is down you will at least still be progressing with these. If they don't destroy the economy for crafters too I'd call it perfect, its a hard balancing act.

I wonder if they could take this a little further though, maybe some sort of shard hand in to speed up research, then progression could be a bit influenced by what you do in the game too. Like Cyan I do think they should have allowed them to be used one per a character though, I'm guessing they are treading cautiously here and we'll see them relax things later on.
