SOE announced yesterday they are going to allow account selling, gold selling and more on *all* vanguard servers - with them getting a cut of the proceeds. http://forums.station.sony.com/vg/posts/list.m?start=435&topic_id=45552My thoughts:http://completeheal.comMy response:Cancelled station access today.

People are still playing Vanguard? I thought it was dead.

Show's their lack of confidence in the Vanguard game and community and they're using it as a Guinea Pig and a case study for a new transaction based game in a Fantasy MMO setting?

If people DID start pouring money into it (which I doubt) are they obliged to keep it open? My concern is that if this was a last ditch effort because they need to keep the servers up, then why would anyone WANT to buy anything if there is a chance it won't be there in a year?

Nasty, while there are a proportion of the player base that don't mind splashing out real life money I'm still skeptical its wanted by the mass of players, for me a MMO is a game, I pay the monthly fee and expect content, but if my decisions start involving real money (even if its just to save it) then the carefree fun goes. WoW's paid character transfer system I'm sure is a factor in keeping realms badly balanced, and they are pushing E-Sports hard too with their new tournament requiring a fee to join for cash prizes (and in game novelty items), sometimes I do wonder just how many real subscribers they do have to need to do this.
