When I think of the term "mini game" I think of Tradeskilling in EQ2, or Housing in EQ2. Not really a specific game, but a smaller part of the game. I was IM'ing someone the other day and they didn't agree and said they think that The Goblin lotto is the only mini game in EQ2.
What do you guys think when you hear the term "mini game" in an MMO?

I tend to think of things which are distinct from the main game; tradeskilling doesn't really count to my mind because tradeskills are so woven into the main game mechanics. The goblin lotto does involve ingame cash I suppose, but feels separate enough to qualify. Of course, Legends of Norrath kind of ticks the box nicely... That said, my opinion is probably coloured by EQ, which gave you Gems as something to do while medding :)

I would tend to agree with this now in the state that tradeskills is in within the current game (post Domino) (capes, need others to do stuff, tradeskill quests, etc) but previous to her arriving, the stuff built (minus usables) that people actually made and USED was miniscule. I will agree that now it is a bit more integrated, to me it just seemed like another treadmill before (albeit a fun one I enjoyed).

Of course, the thing that proves everything I said wrong is that Vanguard's tradeskill stuff felt _much_ more like a proper minigame...
