So, I rolled a new Swordmaster on one of the new servers rolled out for preview weekend. It is a high elf tank class that imbues his sword with magic. Uses spiritual damage and debuffs spiritual damage. Here are some pics of my adventures.

Entering a quest hub for high elf chapter one. Name yourself, the archers in Azurewood will shoot!

Here I am in chapter one's public quest helping to slay the boss. This public quest has you slaying waves of dark elves that are landing to take over high elf territory. Beat them back!

This is the scenario for Chapter one called Khaine's Embrace. It has two control points, destruction controls the one you see in the upper left glowing red. Interestingly after one switches sides everyone has to run for cover as "Khaine's Embrace" is a swift death for anyone within several hundred feet will be incinerated soon after a horn blows. I did fairly well in this scenario and was consistently the second highest ranked Swordmaster. All players in Chapter one scenario seem to be auto adjusted to level 8. Lots of fun.

So there is chapter one. More to come later.

I am doing every quest I find along the way. I also repeat the PQ's until I get enough influence to get the final tier of items available for that chapter. It usually takes 3-4 times. Each one can be completed in about 15min. They also help gain realm rank for your faction. Anyway, here I am standing above chapter two's initial quest hub Adunei.

Here is the first PQ I found in chapter two - Thanalorn Forest. The Dark Elves are burning our sacred forests - They must be stopped! This one was rated difficult and required many more players than the first. I did this one four time and topped the contribution chart twice. I got a purple loot bag which gave a purple (epic) item!

After completing another PQ - beast slaying - was hohum. I am now heading away from Adunei with quests that lead me to my first Warcamp. This includes another large quest hub except now my journal is full with quests involving RvR and killtasks! Here is the Warcamp. Every Warcamp includes a Flight Master - for a fee you can choose from many destinations.

So after making it to my first warcamp I hit up the immediate RvR overland zone. This is where War really shines. Here is a map screenshot. The area at bottom center shaded a darker color is what is referred to as an RvR "lake". In that area everyone is flagged for RvR. Outside of that area you are safe. On the open RvR servers you will not be safe except in city zones I believe. As the tiers move up the RvR lakes make up a much larger portion of the map and much of the PvE content is within the RvR lakes. Add to that the fact that all dungeons are instanced and the differences between rulesets is not as big as you might think. On open RvR to limit griefing there is a chicken debuff. If you kill a player a tier below you you turn into a chicken literally and are debuffed to being worthless for I think 15 minutes!

Well, it didnt take long for me to die! On top of the hill there is a keep currently under order control - if you look closely you can see a blue light shining into the sky - blue for order, red for Destruction. On the map above the keep is marked by a white shield graphic. Each RvR lake has two keeps that can be taken over and/or defended. I have not had the chance to test these battles too much but what little I have is great fun :)

Unfortunately, that is as far as I progressed with the preview weekend - too much altitis. I can say I am still testing this game but in a way that remains under an NDA. These screenshots are just a bit of my early progression as a high elf. The swordmaster by the way is a decently fun class. It is a tank whose main mechanic is called a sword dance. Various skills are within three tiers - Normal Balance, Improved Balance, Perfect Balance. So you basically are always chaining combos of three with the last effect being the most powerful. Pretty fun.

Okie Dokie Theo. This is like the 2nd time you've used this word "HOHUM" . Either I am getting totally old and out of the l33T speak, or you are making up words!!

Love these shots theo :)

Now I'm rethinking my Empire healer thoughts. The high elf stuff just looks so pretty.

During beta I have played all 3 "race" starting chapters on the order side. I think I like the Empire storyline the best though. It just kinda seems to flow more.
