Forums been quiet the last 2 weeks. I have not played any AOC or EQ2 probably in about 3 weeks, I just don't have any MMO gogo Juice right now. I have been bust programming some goodness that I am hoping you guys will help me beta. Other than that on the gaming front I have been playing a bunch of GRID, Assassin's Creed (got for only $15 at GameFly) and trying to finish up Portal. I also have been playing a bunch of Wits and Wagers which is actually pretty good trivia game, me and the wife play it with the Scene It controllers. Good Times. So what is everyone else playing? Anyone played new Legends of Norrath Expanion? New Eve Expansion? Spore Character Creator? New Console Games? Anyone tried BoomBlox?

I have officially retired for EQ2 I guess....I canceled my account two days ago and don't have any plans to come back soon. I am really just tired of the MMO lately...I have not had any motivation at all to play. I loaded COD4 onto the computer at home. I am currently building a home theatre and I am excited about hooking the Wii and 360 up to a giant 100" screen. I will take some pictures once the construction begins. Its not going to be a major renovation or anything. Most of my time has been taken by researching what type of componets to put into the system...I will post another topic about what my plans are if anyone has any experience to help me with some decisions.

Totally get you on the motivation front. I just haven't been feeling MMO motivation of any sort (for any game). I have started to become the 30 min casual player. I am sure MMO streaks will still hit, just not on as of right now.

I completely understand the motivation for mmos not being there. In 2006 I took a long break from MMOs.Almost two years, then my brother started playing Star War Galaxies so I picked it up again for the third time. I have also just recently been checking out EQ2 again, sine its free for the next two months. I have a lvl 60 wiz but mostly just exploring the new areas.

I haven't played EQ2 in quite a while, been cancelled now for a couple of months. I know about the new promotion they are doing, but it's not enticing to me. I guess I am over it. I suspect if they ended up releasing something like Lost Dungeons of Norrath or the return of the Plane of Knowledge or something I could relate to in EQ2, I might consider returning, but most likely I am probably done with SOE for now. Even Free Realms and the Agency I don't see myself being a target consumer for. So I guess they've about lost my money for the time being. I'm subscribed to AoC, but haven't logged on in 3 days. Damn, are we getting old? I spend more time these days in doing things for my rugby team and been touring a little bit before I get too old to play anymore. Other than that... Just been keeping busy with real life. I don't necessary hate AoC, just haven't found that addiction in it. Wonder is grindish MMOs are actually a good thing to have. What do you guys think? MMOs went casual and people just get uninterested. Wondering if there's a coorelation between that.

It has become much more akin to console gaming - as such a poor alternative at that. Back in the day the games were a slower pace and the world was meant to be truly "lived in" and experienced. This connection is missing from AoC right now I think and most MMO offerings. I am one that hoped Vanguard would be the Nirvana for old school MMO'ers - too bad cuz no developer will go that route any time soon :( Theo

Yup. We have been 'wowified' for better and worse. There are both Pros and Cons.

I just really don't like the solo play I guess. It got too hard to find a group if you were not max level after the first month of the expansion. I just can't do the solo grinding...I hate it.

It's especially hard at this time of year; population always drops off over summer. Luckily I've always been a happy soloer, so it doesn't affect me too badly personally. That said, the last week or so I've been having fun with the World Events that came in with GU46 which people seem very happy to do WoW-like grouping to tear through... Totally agree on Dardore's point on the problem of 'casualising'. The trouble is MMO Marketing Departments just look at WoWs subscription numbers and assume that's the way to make money. Sadly, I suspect they're right.

Getting a chance to see the High end ROK stuff, we trying to get VP access atm. I like it. When I am not raidng, I have cut back on my EQ2 time, not really much left to do. Been Playing with my PSP. I just bought one for FFVII:Crisis Core (Great game by the way if your a fan of FFVII) and now I am getting into the PSP's custom firmware, homebrew stuff. There is really ALOT you can do with the PSP.

I still kinda play eq2. I raid probably 2 times a week and maybe group for an hour or so a week, but other than that i don't play as much as i do. I've been busy with my internship at NetApp and i bought a Wii and a ton of games for that. And i just got a Mac book pro, and its damn sexy too...!!!

I've been traveling for a few weeks as my brother got married out in Colorado and then I went down to Destin, FL for a week to get some continuing education done. Between trips, I uninstalled AOC put WOW and Vanguard back on my gaming box and made one WOW raid. I just can't play WOW for any extended period of time anymore and raiding gets on my nerves as well. Perhaps I'm becoming another grumpy old gamer. Who knows...
This is prettty funny. I rolled up a PVE toon on Xeth in Vanguard and have actually been having fun reading the quest lines, admiring the scenery and slowly getting absorbed into a seamless world. The game runs great for me now and looks even better. Sure the populations are lower than other mainstream MMOs, but the community is outstanding, grouping for dungeon runs happens frequently and the world just feels fresh. Character revamps are coming in the next month or so which will get rid of my main Vanguard gripe - ugly character models. They are also coming out with Isle of Dawn soon which will be a free trial island type of thing to try to bring back old players and attract new ones who may be at a gaming crossroad. They have been slowly working hard and have made tons of progess on that game. I'm having fun playing casually in an immersive world. I don't know how long I'll stay but I have a very low tolerance for instanced worlds at this point in my gaming experience. Who knows, I may even go to Fanfaire this year as a Vanguard player - now that would be interesting.

Interesting take on Vanguard Laz - I feel the same way about VG. Much more playable now. I actually played a bit prior to AoC release and also had fun doing the quests.
I would in fact roll with it until Warhammer if not for the PvP server which is terribly barren. As much as I love PvE (my primary playstyle) - I can no longer accept a world where I am totally safe from other real people. That has for me become part of the immersion and where it brings some PvE'ers frustration it brings this PvP'er excitement.
Finally, AoC is actually improving the higher level I get. My guild is just beginning there raid schedule with all members invited because of the apprentice system. Additionally seige warfare is fully implemented (albeit buggy) and I am ready to experience that. Also, although it is extremely solo friendly it only takes a quick ad in chat for groups - I have not failed to find groups for heroic content in a matter of seconds to a couple minutes. I am now looking to clear my quest journal from epic content first.
