OK, here we go again. AoC without a doubt released far before it was ready. It is getting favorable reviews unlike VG before because it is very stable, full of solo content up to 30, and is beautiful to boot.
Problem is the PvP mechanics are not in place at any level, no cost/reward, no gear, no Siege warfare. Further, the guild cities are not implemented at all. Additionally 50-80 gives you the choice of perhaps one zone per tier for leveling with a few small instances.
Of course updates are coming. But it is obvious they were pushed for release and emphasized accordingly the first levels and solo content to make a good early impression. All the good feeling though will rapidly fly away as more and more level beyond mid tier if content and game mechanics aren't added quickly. Honestly, questing eventually just gets old. I personally am near demanding an actual mechanic for PvP in order to continue playing.

I am actually very happy with the way the game was launched. The game plays well and there is a ton of content out there. From a business sense I think it's probably near impossible to launch a game with all the bells and whistles. PVP content and other stuff coming in the next coming months is ok with me.

Yea.... I ummm... I agree with you guys, probably not ready for launch. But as a consumer of the product, I think I am okay with that, if it does not take them too long for releasing updated content. I think the biggest issue for me right now is the drops. They are all over the damn place. I'll kill bosses and not get any loot, I'm wearing stuff WAY below my level for the stat increases on it. I don't see the mitigation and armor benefit. Maybe it's explainable (that even a word?), but I wish it were easier to determine if something was actually an upgrade. I've rolled 4 chars now looking for my fit. I'm thinking of benching my Guardian (lvl 33). Balance is all messed up. But I really can't say that anything that is going on right now in the game is detrimental enough to stop me from playing. I just do hope they address these issues as quickly as they can. And from the responses we are getting from the developers and the frequency of the patch updates, I do believe they will be addressing everything immediately.

Explicable is the word you're looking for - love from the grammar fairy :)
I've only reached 24 so far, and there are two issues I have now. first is the world design - it's so damn fiddly. It's like greater feydark in EQ2. Once you know your way around, it's fine, but there's a lot of cliffs and so on that feel like you should be able to climb them, that you just can't. I find that really annoying, and it's not going to change soon.
I'm also really struggling with inventory management. The drops are very peculiar - drop after drop of crappy armour, that is just vendor trash. They've missed a trick here to stimulate the low level economy. Again, I don't think thats a "release too soon" issue, cos they could change it very easily if they wanted to.
So far, so meh.
