Combat in AoC from a design standpoint is driven by combos - makes me think of old school fighting games. This is obviously both to be different and to allow the game to be ported to consoles.
My question to the community is this - Is this the kind of change that will breathe new life into the MMO genre and something you are looking forward to? Or is this something you see as one of many concessions that will be mandatory to successfully port this type of game to a console.
I personally like the IP, like some of the things they will implement, but have trepidation over the entire combat and control interface. I just don't want a Street Fighter meets Vanguard MMO and hope AoC surprises me. Looking forward to May 1!

You know I think MMO's need a little more "twitch gaming" personally. I really really liked Planet Side, I think TR was good, but it just was missing something (I am not sure exactly what), but Planet side really had the team strategy down and large scale warfare (at least back when I played it). I think Conan and the combos really doesn't sounds all too different though than when I play my wiz. I generally have about a 5 spell set that I go through (root, debuff, dot, dd, rinse repeat) so I don't really think Conan sounds all to much different in that respect.
Again, eager to see it in action though.
