i guess the answer is no. after digging through 12 pages on the gamespot forums i found a post that says no cross consol servers. the cod4 website is really worthless.

The 360 version has matchmaking and multiplay over Xbox Live so I assume that they would not link to PS3. One universal multiconsole network would be amazing to be honest, but I don't think it will ever happen soon. Both Sony and MS want to keep their networks proprietary, which stinks.

It sounds like you found your answer Yaris. Unfortunately they don't have any cross-consol play. I really wish they could get on the ball with this with future games and make it happen. I have played COD4 a ton in the past few months but I only have 2 friends playing it on PC with me, then I have about 3 or 4 playing it on the 360 and a couple on the PS3. How cool would it be for us all to be able to play together?

Besides the issue of different companies wanting to keep their products separate there is the issue of control systems. In short, most people seem to think that on average - a person playing a FPS on a PC will always win vs. a person playing a FPS on a console. So while you may see ps3 and 360 servers you'll never see a PC server where consoles can play.

How long until MS and Sony release a keyboard/mouse combo especially with the merging MMO scene that will only grow. Then the difference will not be so great for players. The next issue would be bandwidth. PC's have server lists that you choose which are self contained - xbox live is great for matching etc. but the downfall is there are bandwidth issues with their system. That is why PC's have 32 player maps, consoles do not. Theo

And yes, you can play 360 vs PC. My task is done/My song has ceased/My theme has died into an echo/It is fit.
